What Winter Carnival Event are you most excited for?

Tour the UPEISU!

Posted on 2 February 2012

If you take the bus regularly in Charlottetown you’ve probably noticed some changes to the transit service.  Trius Transit, which runs the buses in Charlottetown and around the island (aside from Charlottetown they have shuttle services to Summerside and soon to be Souris), has been working on this rebranding project for a while.  So what has changed for the bus service, and how does that affect UPEI students?

What I would argue to be the biggest change is the change in frequency of runs going up and down University Avenue.  Before the new schedule, buses came to campus every 30 minutes (per direction) during the day and every hour in the evening.  On the new schedule buses now come to campus every 15 minutes during the day and every hour in the evening.  This is good stuff.

The ceremony itself is a masterpiece put together by staff and faculty members across campus and orchestrated (mostly) without issue. It's the fun stuff before and after that comes from us, the students. There's a budget and instructions to "have fun with it" from both the University and here at the Student Union - and we have some big ideas. In the past there have been barbecues, parent/teacher/student mixers at The Wave, a pubcrawl of course, grad packs with UPEI swag and discounts from around Charlottetown and as always, a gift to the University from your graduating class.

From now until Convocation on May 12th, this will be the place to look for all information regarding GRAD WEEK. Fundraising and planning is now underway but there's still time to get in on the "behind-the-scenes" action.

If you'd like to get involved with the GRAD WEEK Planning Committee, send a quick e-mail to vpactivities@upeisu.ca

Tyler Shaw, a first year arts student at UPEI, recently submitted a video to Canada’s Got Talent—and it’s been chosen as one of the Top 20 YouTube auditions! Show your Panther support by voting for Tyler’s original song, “Yesterday.” Hurry, voting ends on January 30!

U.P.E.I cage crew is starting up again and we want you to be involved!

For those who don't know, Cage Crew is a group of students that get together before sports games at the school, get dressed up, painted, rowdy etc. and go cheer on our fellow panthers.

The first event is Sunday, January 15th for the men's game at 4 pm. Come on out to The Wave at 2:30 for the pre-party & paint up.

If this sounds like something you would interested in doing Cage Crew memberships will be available first week of classes. It will be 5 dollars to become a member and this will include free pizza, a t-shirt, face paint and noise makers at every home game. There is also lots of opportunity for other free stuff such as more free pizza, gift certificates to superstore and much more.
